Tebow shared the news in an Instagram post, writing that his father passed away Thursday. A cause of death was not disclosed, though Tebow had previously revealed Bob Tebow's long battle with Parkinson's disease.
"Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home," Tebow wrote. "Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he's not lost. We know exactly where he is."
The post included several family photos, highlighting moments over the years, including Tebow pushing his father in a wheelchair at his 2020 wedding and sharing news of his wife's pregnancy.
Bob was known for his strong Christian faith and influence on his son's life and career. Tim, a former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback, has often credited his parents for shaping his values both on and off the field.
Bob's wife, Demi-Leigh Tebow, also paid tribute in a separate message, remembering him as a kind and devoted family man.
"I got to know the gentle grandpa... the one who loved ice cream, a good laugh and never met a dog he didn't like," she wrote.
She added that his legacy lives on through his family and the many people he impacted.
Tim, now a broadcaster with ESPN and a former minor league baseball player in the New York Mets organization, has frequently spoken about his father's role in guiding his career and faith.
Bob is survived by his wife, Pam, and their family.
