Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich has emerged as the favorite to become the new Indianapolis Colts head coach, per Chris Mortensen, of ESPN fame.
Reich is famously a former NFL gunslinger who consistently led the Buffalo Bills to come-from-behind victories whenever Jim Kelly was nursing an injury. He led the Bills to the largest playoff rally in history in 1992, when Buffalo overcame a 32-point deficit to defeat the Houston Oilers.
He actually got his start in coaching with the Colts. First as an offensive coaching staff assistant and then as the quarterbacks coach way back in 2008. He also had coaching stints with the Cardinals and Chargers before joining the Eagles in 2016.
As most likely remember, the Colts were recently spurned by New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Having originally agreed to become the franchise's new head coach, McDaniels backed out in the last minute, leaving plenty of people upset.
It is expected that whoever ends up being the new Indy head coach will keep the assistant coaches McDaniels started to unofficially bring over while the Patriots were battling their way through the playoffs.
Colts fans are certainly hoping Reich has a few more rallies left in him.
