Travis Kelce bought a racehorse.

The Kansas City Chiefs star teamed up with the Zoldan Family to acquire a "significant share" of their three-year-old gelding, Swift Delivery, according to BloodHorse.com. The Zoldans own Phantoms Firework. Team Valor International, which is owned by Barry Irwin and has control of Swift Delivery, announced the news on Tuesday.
At first look, it seems pretty convenient that Kelce would invest in a racehorse that has 'Swift' in its name. That can't be a coincidence, right? I mean, he is dating Taylor Swift. Irwin shot that rumor down, though, telling the Associated Press that the horse was not named after the international pop star.
Kelce has actually been a part owner of Swift Delivery for about a month, but only just now was willing to make his involvement public knowledge, according to Irwin.
"I met him at the Kentucky Derby and got to spend some time with him and stuff," Irwin told the AP," and we talked about horses and everything. When this horse came to light and it was owned by one of my partners already, with the name, I figured this has got to be a no-brainer."
Swift Delivery has won back-to-back races at Woodbine Racetrack, so the investment by Kelce seems to be a smart one.
The tight end continues to make moves away from the football field. He and his brother's "New Heights" podcast recently partnered with Wondery for a nine-figure deal. He's also hosting Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? for Amazon. Things are going extremely well for the Hall of Fame-bound player.
On the field, he and his Chiefs teammates are gearing up for their Super Bowl defense. The Chiefs will hold the honor of opening up the NFL season with the first game on the schedule. They'll host the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5.
