Eric Bieniemy may not be official yet, but inside the Kansas City Chiefs, the reunion already feels real. Just ask Travis Kelce.

The veteran tight end made that much clear on the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, where he spoke glowingly about Bieniemy's expected return as offensive coordinator. It would mark a homecoming for Bieniemy, who held the same role in Kansas City from 2018 through 2022.
"I can't wait to see him back in the building," Kelce said, via Pete Grathoff of the Kansas City Star. "He's one of my favorite coaches of all time, one of my favorite people of all time. I've had so many unbelievable growing moments under him as a player and as a person."
Bieniemy left the Chiefs after their Super Bowl LVII win over the San Francisco 49ers, then spent 2023 as offensive coordinator in Washington before a year at UCLA. In 2025, he joined the Chicago Bears as running backs coach, helping Chicago win the NFC North in Ben Johnson's first season.
Kelce believes the partnership will feel seamless.
"I think it's a marriage that's gonna pick up right where it left off," he said, noting Bieniemy's demanding style and presence.
Kelce, 36, has faced offseason retirement questions before. His enthusiasm about Bieniemy's return could be read as a sign he's not done yet.
It would also reunite Bieniemy with Patrick Mahomes, who won both of his MVP awards with Bieniemy calling the offense.
If the move becomes official, Kansas City will be leaning heavily on familiarity, and few combinations have worked better.
