The Dallas Cowboys season ended unceremoniously, losing in the Wild Card round of the playoffs to the Green Bay Packers as a No. 2 seed. Now, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is leaving to become the new head coach for the Washington Commanders.

With him headed to Washington to team up with owner Josh Harris and general manager Adam Peters, the Cowboys need a new defensive coordinator under head coach Mike McCarthy.
Who should they hire? If you ask cornerback Trevon Diggs, he thinks it should be incumbent defensive back coach Al Harris.

Diggs tore his ACL during practice in September, missing most of the season. Now, he wants 49-year-old Harris to take over Quinn's job. Harris was drafted in the sixth round and No. 169 overall in the 1997 NFL Draft. He played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, and the St. Louis Rams.
Harris' coaching career began in 2012 as a coaching intern for the Dolphins. From here, he was an assistant secondary coach and defensive assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2013-2018. He was out of coaching in 2019 but returned in 2020 to join the Cowboys as a defensive backs coach. He was a Second-Team All-Pro, a two-time Pro Bowler, and a Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame member.
However, Adam Schefter of ESPN notes that Harris could be a contender for defensive coordinator in Washington.

"One of the next questions will be whether Dan Quinn attempts to bring any other added Cowboys assistant coaches with him to Washington, such as defensive backs coach Al Harris or defensive line coach Aden Durde. Both could be defensive coordinator candidates if Dallas grants permission to coaches under contract," Schefter said.
Now, we look to see if Diggs' wish comes true or if Harris becomes a defensive coordinator for the Commanders.
