Report: Respected FOX announcer threatened to quit over Skip Bayless hiring

"I believe success is achieved by acquiring and developing talented, respected and credible individuals, none of which applies to Skip Bayless."

The fans aren't the only ones who have major disdain for Skip Bayless...

NFL on FOX announcer Troy Aikman commented to Sports Illustrated on FOX's hiring of former ESPN and controversial reporter Skip Bayless, and one thing was clear: Aikman doesn't want to be anywhere near the guy.

"To say I'm disappointed in the hiring of Skip Bayless would be an enormous understatement," Aikman said. "Clearly, [Fox Sports president of national networks] Jamie Horowitz and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to building a successful organization. I believe success is achieved by acquiring and developing talented, respected and credible individuals, none of which applies to Skip Bayless."

That's pretty harsh criticism of someone that now works for the same organization as Aikman, but that wasn't all. According to Pro Football Talk, Aikman threatened to quit the network over the hiring of Bayless.

Aikman has developed a hatred for Bayless over the past couple of decades, all dating back to Bayless claiming back in the 90s that Aikman is gay.

"I'm upset about it because it was made up and there was nothing accurate about anything that was insinuated," Aikman said at the time. "And he did it, as he does everything, just for attention."

We will have to wait and see if Aikman draws any backlash from the network, but one thing is certain: Aikman has a right to dislike Bayless, and it is not something that can be "reconciled" at this point. FOX should probably avoid putting these guys in a room together.
