Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith had one of the most unfortunate injuries in the 2015 season, as the star defensive player suffered an ACL and LCL injury in the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State. Smith opted to enter the NFL Draft, with the hopes that he could recover from his injury in time for the NFL season.
Well, things may be going poorly for Smith.
Seems optimistic, right? Well, as pointed out by Dr. David Chao on Twitter (h/t The Big Lead), Smith may have another issue that was initially feared when he tore the ligaments in January.
While nerve damage could be temporary and Smith may be able to easily recover, that is not a good prognosis for the linebacker hoping to be taken in the NFL Draft. If he indeed has nerve damage, Smith could fall in the Draft, costing him a lot of money in the future.
Hopefully Smith is able to recover, as he is a helluva player that deserves a chance to shine in the NFL.
