Tyreek Hill Detained By Police On The Way To Dolphins/Jaguars Game, Put In Handcuffs Outside Stadium

Miami Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill was pulled over one block away from the Hard Rock Stadium, due to a minor traffic violation Sunday morning.

That is to say, Hill was detained by Miami police on his way to work, with the Dolphins set to face off with the Jacksonville Jaguars at 1 pm ET in the season opener.

According to Jeff Darlington (ESPN), Hill was first pulled over for reckless driving. Following this, the 30-year-old got into a verbal altercation with the police, which probably entailed the NFL star saying, "Do you know who I am?"

Ultimately, this led to things escalating, as the officer then subsequently put the "Cheetah" in handcuffs. Witnesses of the scene recorded footage of it all, as Hill was seen laying face down on the street surrounded by law enforcement.

Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus broke the news to multiple reporters.

"It's very upsetting... to see the way he was treated," Rosenhaus said during a TV interview with NFL Network. "It's unnecessary. there's no reason Tyreek should've been treated that way."

The Miami Dolphins released a statement regarding the situation.

"This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police. He has since been released. Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today's game."

The five-time All-Pro/eight-time Pro Bowler had agreed to a restructured contract this offseason worth $90 million ($65 million guaranteed), as he comes into his ninth year in the NFL, hoping to build off his career-high 1,799 yard season with the Dolphins.
