Adrian Peterson can put one of his recent legal issues behind him. The former NFL MVP has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in Minnesota stemming from his 2025 arrest for driving while impaired, according to court documents.

Peterson pleaded guilty to one count of DWI as part of the deal. In exchange, several other charges connected to the case were dropped.
The sentence includes 90 days at the Hennepin County Adult Corrections Facility. However, Peterson won't actually serve jail time. The sentence has been stayed for one year, meaning he will remain free as long as he follows the conditions of his probation.
Those conditions include completing 32 hours of community service within the next 180 days and attending a victim impact panel. Peterson was also required to complete an alcohol screening, which records indicate he has already finished.
He'll also need to stay out of trouble during the next year — meaning no alcohol- or drug-related offenses and no reckless driving violations.
The arrest happened just hours after Peterson appeared as a featured guest at the Minnesota Vikings 2025 NFL Draft party.
According to reports, a Minnesota State Trooper pulled Peterson over around 3:20 a.m. after clocking him driving 83 mph in a 55 mph zone. A breath test later showed a blood alcohol level of .14, well above the legal limit.
While the Minnesota case is now settled, Peterson still faces a separate DWI-related case in Texas connected to an October incident.
