The Cleveland Browns are etched in football infamy for their terrible personnel decisions, especially the ones regarding quarterbacks (we're looking at you, RGIII).

Their prized possession before Griffin, though, was Johnny Manziel, who was cut by the team following the 2015 season (leading to the current spiraling we're witnessing today). His release from Cleveland led to an worthy question: can Manziel's guaranteed money be voided after he's cut?

We'll never know because the Browns voided his guaranteed money before cutting him, according to three sources unnamed by Pro Football Focus.

There were several ways the Browns could void the guaranteed contract of a player: (1) a suspension imposed by the league under any policy; (2) a suspension imposed by the team; (3) failure or refusal to report, practice, or play; or (4) leaving the team without prior written consent.

Though Manziel was just suspended by the NFL for violating it's substance abuse policy, it's likely Cleveland went with option four, when Manziel took an impromptu trip to Vegas. Manziel would have received $2.173 million over the next two years had his contract not been voided.

The poor just got poorer.
