Former NHL forward Kyle Calder, who played 10 seasons in the league and spent the majority of his career with the Chicago Blackhawks, has died. He was 47.

The NHL and NHL Alumni Association confirmed Calder's death on Monday. Details regarding the illness were not immediately released.
A native of Mannville, Alberta, Calder appeared in 590 regular-season NHL games with the Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks. He recorded 114 goals and 180 assists for 294 career points.
Calder was selected by Chicago in the fifth round of the 1997 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut during the 1999-2000 season. He became a full-time player with the Blackhawks in 2001 and enjoyed his best season in 2005-06, when he scored career highs of 26 goals and 59 points.

Following his playing career, Calder remained active in hockey through youth programs and alumni events.
The NHL Alumni Association paid tribute to Calder in a statement, describing him as a respected teammate, loyal friend and valued member of the hockey community.
The Blackhawks also mourned his passing.
"Kyle approached life with the same passion, intensity and incredible dedication that defined his play," Blackhawks owner Danny Wirtz said in a statement.
Calder's daughter, Madison, remembered her father in a social media post, thanking him for his support and the lessons he shared throughout her life.
Calder retired from professional hockey in 2012 after spending parts of three decades in the sport. He is survived by family and loved ones.
