The moment occurred during a TV timeout as the Calgary Flames faced off with the Colorado Avalanche at Scotiabank Saddledome. Wolf saw a 10-year-old fan holding a sign that said he was his idol. The NHL player responded by handing his hockey stick to an attendant, who took it to the young fan.

This fan burst into tears as the attendant approached him. He then continued crying while cradling the hockey stick.

"That says it all," one of the broadcast members said. "...Parker, you said it so well earlier about the impact that these National Hockey Leaguers can have on people, and this organization does it better than anyone else."

Wolf spoke about the moment after the game. He admitted that he never looks in the crowd due to focusing on his task — keeping the puck out of the net.

However, he saw this particular fan after Head Equipment Manager Mark DePasquale made a point to highlight him. The goalie then chose to make an impact on the fan's life.

"It's obviously an awesome thing that us as athletes get to do," he said, per the Flames website. "It seems so simple, but it goes a long way. It's pretty neat to be part of it."

The former seventh-round pick knows the feeling of receiving a gift from an idol. According to the Flames, a young Wolf skated with his idol, Jonathan Quick, earlier in his life. Quick then sent an autographed stick to the Flames goalie in 2024.

The two men also shared the ice again in 2026 as the Rangers and Flames faced off. Quick held the Flames scoreless during the March 10 matchup, which the Rangers won 4-0.
