Alex Ovechkin and Leo Komarov had been going at each other for most of the Washington Capitals-Toronto Maple Leafs game Saturday night. Good, hard clean hickey. Then Ovechkin blindsided Komarov, as you can see in the video. Ovechkin apparently felt bad about the hit:

Just overheard that Alex Ovechkin was seen going into #Leafs' trainers room to hug Leo Komarov. #Capitals

That's a nice gesture, but not enough. The hit forced Komarov out of the game. If the NHL is serious about player saftey, they'll sit Ovechkin with a message —- good clean hits are just fine, but blindsides will cost you money.
The Leafs (12-8-3) beat up on the Capitals (10-9-4), 6-2.
