Vegas Golden Knights’ Tomas Hertl Accidentally Smacks Trainer And Causes Head Injury During Mid-Game Tantrum

During the Vegas Golden Knights vs. Edmonton Oilers' 4-3 late-game thriller on Saturday night, there was some friendly fire being displayed. That is, after failing to convert a goal, Golden Knights Center Tomas Hertl came over to the bench and threw a mid-game tantrum. Out of frustration he slammed his hockey stick against the ground trying to break it, however, in the process Hertl actually hit his trainer in the head.

The Golden Knights trainer immediately put his hand on top of his own head, and temporarily left to go into the tunnel to get checked out.

One fan responded, "Can these babies stop throwing tantrums on the bench? The league should fine Hertl."

"So tired of players doing this stuff. Hertl should be taking care of the guy's next few car payments," another said. "These trainers bust their absolute a**es off. Get less sleep than anyone, first up, last to bed. The support staff is the true work horse of the organization. This stuff is unacceptable. Accident or not, knock it off."

After getting stitched up, he was back on the bench to witness a last second Reilly Smith game-winning near buzzer-beater with 0.4 seconds left on the clock, to give the Golden Knights a Game 3 victory.

The series is now 2-1, and Game 4 will be played at Rogers Place on Monday, May 12 as the Golden Knights hope to even the series.
