After the world laughed at flag football quarterback Darell "Housh" Doucette for saying he was best fit to lead Team USA at the 2028 Olympics, when compared to NFL QB's, he has since went on to back up all the talk, by dominating on the field at the World Championships.
That is to say, Doucette put up some video game numbers at the 2024 IFAF Flag Football World Championships in Finland, which took place on Tuesday.
In the U.S. team's first two opening games, he contributed a total of nine touchdowns. In particular, in the first game vs. Brazil he led the squad to a 52-6 win, throwing three TD's and rushing for one.
And after the game, he also showed his leadership and sportsmanship when he led a prayer with the Brazilian team squad.
In view of the next match vs. Spain, the Americans won 57-25, and Doucette had four passing TD's and another rushing.

Ultimately, Doucette's confidence has been met with backlash, because of the previous statements that he made (per TMZ).
"At the end of the day, I feel like I'm better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ of the game"

"I'm not saying I'm a better player overall," Doucette said about his claims, citing that it is a different game than the NFL. "But until he [Mahomes] steps on a 5v5 flag field, I'm going to feel that way until it's proven otherwise! I'm a competitor and need to be proven wrong."

If Doucette continues to show out, there may not be anymore room for criticism, but many still believe that the NFL players should at least be given a chance to try out for the 2028 Olympics squad, out of curiosity to see if they can make the transition into the flag version of football.
