First Male Olympic Gold Medal Winner For The Philippines Gets List Of Lifetime Perks

Carlos Yulo became the first athlete to climb the podium in gymnastics for the Philippines at the Olympics ever. That is to say, he not only did once but twice, as the (two-time) first Filipino male Olympic gold medal winner will be getting a lifetime of rewards from both the government and local companies.

This past weekend, Yulo won the men's gymnastics floor event after nailing his final routine with a score of 15.000, as he defeated Israeli Artem Dolgopyat's score of 14.966.

To point out, Yulo wasn't done, as 24 hours later he claimed victory in the men's Olympic vault final (15.116).

In a statement from a Philippine's real estate developer corporation called Megaworld, president Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, said Yulo was gifted a three-bedroom condominium valued at around $555,000 USD. To note, it was originally two bedrooms, but after winning the second gold, it was upgraded.

"Since this is a very significant milestone in the history of Philippine sports to have two gold Olympic medals during our 100th year participation as a country in the Olympics, which also coincides with our company's 35th anniversary this year, we are boosting our reward for Carlos Yulo now totaling to P35-million," Gutierrez-Alfonso said.

This is just one of many perks for the 24-year-old, as the Philippine Sports Commission will also be giving him 10 million in cash ($173,000 USD), while the House of Representatives will give Yulo three million ($52,000 USD), per NBC Olympics.

Considering the incredible achievement by the Filipino athlete of doubling the country's Olympic gold medal count in a matter of two days, Yulo is set for life, as he will also receive an iPhone 16, a house, to go with a lifetime of food from various restaurants. Not to mention, he will also be getting a free college education, and unlimited colonoscopies when he gets older, among other benefits.

With this in mind, this will be enough to hold him over until the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, where he seemingly will have a chance to win even more prizes.

Notably, during the Tokyo Games back in 2021, Hidilyn Diaz was the first athlete from the Philippines to earn a gold medal for the country.
