Norwegian biathlon star Sturla Holm Lægreid brought home bronze in the men's 20km at the Winter Olympics on Tuesday. Then, just moments after the race, he brought the drama — confessing in a live TV interview that he cheated on his ex-girlfriend and it's been wrecking him ever since.

"This has been the worst week of my life," Lægreid told Norway's NRK while holding back tears, via the New York Post. "Three months ago I made the mistake of my life and cheated on her. I told her about it last week. I had the gold medal in life."

The 28-year-old biathlete didn't name names, but he sure wasn't shy about the emotions. He said he met "the love of my life" six months ago, then blew it. Big time.

"I want to be a good role model, but I did something stupid," he added. "You have to admit when you hurt someone you love."

Lægreid's emotional meltdown has gone viral back home in Norway, with plenty wondering if he just committed relationship seppuku on global TV.

He told VG he's not ready to give up on her. "I hope that committing social suicide might show how much I love her."

Bronze medal around his neck. Guilt weighing even heavier.
