Härtig died Sunday, 19 days after the June 23 crash near Passo Sella in the Dolomites, according to Italian news reports. Her family had recently transferred her from a hospital in Bolzano, Italy, to a medical facility in Bavaria, Germany.

Authorities said Härtig was riding a bicycle downhill when she collided with a motorcycle driven by Runggaldier, who was traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact reportedly broke Härtig's bicycle in two and threw her onto the roadway. Emergency personnel resuscitated her at the scene before she was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries.

Runggaldier, 57, was also transported to a hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Local authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Italian reports said Runggaldier had been placed under investigation while officials worked to determine responsibility, a standard procedural step in serious traffic cases.

Runggaldier represented Italy in Alpine skiing and won a silver medal in the downhill at the 1991 world championships. He also won the World Cup super-G title in 1995.

Härtig, who had more than 54,000 Instagram followers, regularly shared posts about travel, cycling, skiing and other outdoor activities.

She had married shortly before the crash and was visiting the Dolomites with her husband on their honeymoon. Two days before the collision, she posted about marrying her "soulmate for life."

Runggaldier later issued a statement expressing sympathy to Härtig's family and asking for privacy.
