Even Olympic legends have hot mic moments. Fresh off winning gold in women's slalom at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Mikaela Shiffrin appeared on the Today show Thursday and accidentally let an F-bomb fly while speaking from Milan.

It happened as Shiffrin opened up about the emotional weight of her win and the spiritual journey she has been on since the sudden death of her father, Jeff, in 2020. Mid-thought, the word slipped out. She immediately froze, covered her mouth, and apologized.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry," she said.
The hosts could not have been less rattled. Hoda Kotb jumped in with a quick "We got you," joking they would cover any FCC fine. Craig Melvin brushed it off, pointing out the obvious.
"You're wearing gold," he said. "It's OK."
The moment only made Shiffrin more relatable. Later in the segment, she laughed while explaining how teammates celebrated her win by aggressively handing her espresso martinis the night before, repeatedly telling her to pace herself while doing the exact opposite.
Shiffrin, 30, became the first American skier to win three Olympic gold medals with Wednesday's victory, adding to titles from 2014 and 2018. She later shared a raw, emotional message on social media, ending it the same way she lived it.
"I won," she wrote. "I f-king won. And yeah, I got a medal too."
Gold medal honesty. No filter required.
