Leave it to Snoop Dogg to steal the show at the first-ever breaking competition at the Olympics.
In case you're unaware, "breaking" is short for "break-dancing," which was wildly popular about 40 years ago and only recently made its way to the summer games. As in, this year.
And it was Snoop D-O-Double-G who kicked it off, as relayed by the New York Post.
"Dressed in a red, white and blue tracksuit, the Grammy-nominated rapper — who has been making the most of his time in Paris and reportedly earning $500,000 per day as an Olympics correspondent for NBC and Peacock — accessorized with colorful kicks as the festivities got underway," the Post wrote.
"Men and women will compete separately at the Paris Games, with the 'competition consist[ing] of battles between two athletes. Each battle consists of a number of rounds. In each round one athlete performs first, then the other responds,' according to the Olympics' official website."
Apparently, breaking isn't just popular in the USA. (Or was popular, as the case may be.) But the USA is supposedly its birthplace, for better or for worse.
"Team USA's breaking team is comprised of two b-boys, Jeffrey Louis and Victor Montalvo, and two b-girls, Sunny Choi and Logan Edra," the Post wrote.
Hopefully for the sake of breakers everywhere in this country, the b-kids finish with an "A" grade. Mr. Dogg sure has at these particular Olympics.
"It's been quite the summer for Snoop Dogg, 52, who kicked off his experience at the Games by carrying the Olympic torch before the opening ceremony on July 26," the Post wrote.
In other words, when it comes to Snoop Dogg's will to hang in Paris ... well, clearly, there's no breaking it.
