USWNT Soccer Star Lynn Williams Tells How She Broke Her Olympic Gold Medal While Partying Too Hard In Paris

U.S. Women's National Team star player Lynn Williams gave the backstory on how she broke her gold medal while celebrating the big Olympic win in Paris.

As the Team USA women's soccer team was celebrating their fifth gold medal in Olympic history, Williams admittedly had a little bit too much fun on the dance floor, which led to an accident that left her super disappointed.

Williams explained to her TikTok followers what happened in a story time moment.

"Obviously, you guys all saw me swinging the thing around... ironically that's not how it broke."

"I had it on my shoulder like a little purse," Williams said. "And I was just jumping, dancing, jumping and I jumped down, and it just fell off."

The ribbon attached to the gold medal got separated, so as a result Williams claims she has the world's "most expensive coaster."

"So everybody was dancing, and I was roaming around trying to get my medal off the ground. It has a dent now."

"It's definitely one of a kind," Williams continued. "Probably swinging around didn't help but I just think that they should have made these better. They should have made them more sturdy and honestly, I can't be faulted for that."

With this in mind, she is now in contact with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and is hoping they can repair or replace her coveted gold medal.

To note, for those who don't know, Williams at 31 years old is already the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) all-time leading scorer, so if anyone deserves a replacement it's her.
