Hulk Hogan, Vince McMahon and other current, former WWE stars pay tribute to Bobby Heenan

Heenan started wrestling in 1969 with the AWA and transitioned into WWE in 1984.

Bobby "The Brain" Heenan passed away on Sunday, September 17 at the age of 72. While the cause of death is not currently known, Heenan had been battling throat cancer since 2002.

The WWE Hall of Famer was one of the greatest, if not the best manager in professional wrestling history. He played the perfect heel to Gorilla Monsoon's commentating while in the broadcast booth and had some of the most infamous moments in WWE history.

Current and former stars paid tribute to Heenan as word spread of his death:

Heenan started wrestling in 1969 with the AWA and transitioned into WWE in 1984. He stopped wrestling in 1991, and split time between WWE and WCW as a manager/commentator. He had a variety of different roles with WWE and WCW, but returned to Vince McMahon's company after WCW was bought in 2001.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
