During SummerSlam weekend, numerous reports indicated that former NXT champion Bobby Roode was bound for the main roster in the near future.
Apparently, he might not have to wait very long.
Roode was photographed walking into the Barclays Center before Tuesday night's taping of SmackDown Live, leading to speculation that he could be making his main roster debut.
Roode was also reported to be backstage during last night's taping of RAW while most of his NXT colleagues had already traveled back to Orlando following NXT TakeOver.
On Sunday, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, reported that Roode was expected to be called up to the main roster in the coming weeks as part of another "Superstar Shakeup." While it's possible that Roode could make a surprise debut during tonight's show, he may also just be getting acquainted with the WWE travel schedule before being called up.
The 40-year-old Toronto native held the NXT title for more than 200 days and immediately rose to prominence as the brand's top heel. However, former ROH champion Adam Cole's attack of new NXT champion Drew McIntyre and an assumed angle between the two superstars, it doesn't seem like there's much left for Roode to prove in NXT.
