Triple H comments on Daniel Bryan’s potential return to a WWE ring @WWE/Twitter

People have long been speculating that an in-ring return is inevitable for Daniel Bryan. That, despite his concussion issues and WWE’s cautionary approach to putting at-risk talent back in the squared-circle, he’s destined for at least one more contest in the world’s biggest wrestling promotion.

Triple H, on the other hand, would prefer if everyone would just hold their horses. According to Triple H — who legitimately serves as an executive with WWE — exceptions can’t be made for a guy just because people really like him.

During a panel for the Television Critics Association, according to The Wrap, Triple H spoke on Daniel Bryan’s potential return:

“There can be no exception medically. If the belief is that he’s not healthy enough and there’s a risk [for him] to perform, then I don’t know why you’d allow him to step into the ring unless it can be proven otherwise. There will be no exceptions. We have some of the best medical people in the world that work for us. Our wellness policy, our concussion programming, our protocols — I’ll put them up there against any on the planet. That is a new science in a way, too. So we’re gonna look at it from all aspects, but the medical experts will make the determination as to whether he can ever step into that ring or not. Look, personally for him, I know it would be something he would love to do, and part of me feels like I hope he has that opportunity. But at the same point in time, he’s married and has a child. Certainly, [we put] the human being first.”

This isn’t really a new stance by people within the company. Even with Bryan publicly stating he intends on wrestling again, he won’t be able to do so for the WWE unless medically cleared by its medial professionals.

Joseph has been covering college basketball for nearly a decade. He's also the co-host of the Off The Wall podcast. Marty Jannetty is better than HBK.
