Earlier this week, it was reported that Ho Ho Lun was leaving WWE after one year with the company.
On Friday, Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Lun wasn't fired, but instead requested his release in order to return to his native Hong Kong to deal with a family situation.
"WWE has granted HoHo Lun's request to be released for personal reasons," a source confirmed to the website.
It has not been confirmed what exactly his family situation is.
Lun joined WWE as a participant in the Cruiserweight Classic last year, where he was eliminated in the second-round by current 205 Live star Noam Dar.
Lun has appeared sporadically on NXT TV and teamed with Tian Bing in the Dusty Rhodes Classic. His last televised match in NXT was a loss to Velveteen Dream in June.
