Former champion pays tribute to his fallen partner after surprising WWE return

A touching tribute.

Former WWE superstar Shane "Hurricane" Helms' sporadic Royal Rumble on Sunday appearance provided plenty of nostalgia, but an even better moment apparently occurred backstage.

Helms shared a photo of his interaction with WWE's Roman Reigns, the brother of his late tag team partner, Matt Anoa'i, better known by his ring name "Rosey."

The former Cruiserweight champion included a heartfelt caption about the meeting, noting the importance of his relationship with the Anoa'i family, wrestling's "Samoan Dynasty."

Anoa'i passed away last April due to congestive heart failure. Helms was among the many professional wrestlers who paid tribute to his former partner following his death, calling him a "great human being" and a "hero."

The duo won the Tag Team championship at Backlash in May 2005, defeating then-champions Tajiri and William Regal, The Heart Throbs, Simon Dean and Maven and La Résistance in a Tag Team Turmoil match.
