One of pro wrestling's biggest rising stars could be headed to WWE

Could he be on the move?

Adam Cole has been one of the most intriguing, young wrestlers on the independent scene and now he may finally be on his way to the WWE according to a new report.

Cole, who has been with Ring Of Honor for some time now and where he's become one of its top stars, is finally moving on with his contract being up.

Via Still Real To Us:

"It looks like Ring of Honor may be losing one of their top stars, as three time ROH World Champion Adam Cole is now a free agent. Cole's ROH contract expired at midnight on 5/1. This means that Adam Cole is now a free agent, and he can work wherever he wants. Cole recently lost a match to Matt Taven over the weekend."

Cole has been one of ROH's biggest stars, so losing him is going to be a major blow to the company if he doesn't re-sign.

Still, it isn't known where Cole plans to go, but he hasn't shied away from his thoughts on WWE.

"I would want to [start in NXT] because, first of all, I'm a fan of NXT," Cole said. "I think the brand is cool. I think the Takeover shows are awesome. I think the fans are great. I love the roster of guys. I think it's something that's going to be looked at as a very special time in pro wrestling, so I want to be a part of it. Secondly, of course in a perfect world if I went to NXT, I wouldn't want to be there forever; but I like the idea of going there and performing there and getting accustomed to the WWE audience and them getting accustomed to me and then eventually making the move to Raw or Smackdown. I think it'd be a lot of fun, and I think I would really enjoy working in front of that audience."

Cole is still just 27-years-old, so it wouldn't be crazy to see the Florida native wind up with a promotion like Impact Wrestling to gain even more experience before making the jump to WWE.
