Two of independent wrestling’s “top big men” reportedly receiving interest from WWE

Is WWE planning to sign two more major acquisitions?

WWE is reportedly targeting independent wrestlers Walter and Keith Lee, according to Dave Meltzer's latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription needed).

According to Meltzer, both Walter and Lee — who he called "the two best big men on the independent scene right now" — were offered spots to begin working at the WWE Performance Center in May, with the latter expected to accept the deal as he's already turned down several appearances scheduled for that timeframe.

However, neither side has confirmed any interest up to this point.

Lee — who Meltzer listed as "32 or 33" — reminds the writer of a "more agile but not quite as heavy version of Bam Bam Bigelow." He is also expected to be included on the upcoming NJPW show in Long Beach, California on March 25, pending the approval of World Wrestling Network VP of talent relations Gabe Sabolsky.

According to Meltzer, Walter has previously denied interest in WWE due to his employee status with the wXw promotion and his wrestling school, both of which are in Europe and was reportedly uninterested in moving away from his native Germany. That apparently prohibited him from taking bookings from NJPW in the past as well.

However, Meltzer believes that Walter could receive enough money to entice him into taking the deal with WWE as he has "main event heel in the old WWWF" potential.
