According to a press release from JR Motorsports, the stylized number will grace the sides of Sammy Smith's Chevrolet Camaro in 2025. This will continue the emphasis on history that most recently featured Earnhardt driving the No. 8 Late Model with Budweiser as his primary partner.
"It is awesome to have this number and this font back at JR Motorsports this year, and I can't wait to see it on the car in Daytona," Earnhardt said in a statement.
"That's going to be a pretty awesome feeling for me personally. Sammy is going to do a great job with it. Excited to have that number out there and I know everybody else is as well."

The No. 8 has been a part of the JR Motorsports stable for several seasons. Josh Berry and Sammy Smith have both won Xfinity Series races with it on the doors. Carson Kvapil has used the No. 8 while winning back-to-back zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car championships.
The big difference is that these wins did not feature the stylized No. 8 that Earnhardt used during the first portion of his Cup Series career. This is the version that he used starting in 1999 and continuing through the 2007 season. This is the number that he used while winning five times at Talladega Superspeedway.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. also used the number while competing in the Xfinity Series in the 1980s. He won eight races in the No. 8. Ralph Earnhardt won the 1959 and 1960 NASCAR Limited Sportsman championships while driving the No. 8.
Along with revealing the return of the iconic stylized number, JR Motorsports showed off three schemes for the 2025 season. The team revealed that Smith will have Pilot, Allstate Peterbilt Group, and TMC Transportation as primary partners during his second season in the No. 8 Chevrolet.
