Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas is not taking the traditional path from Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia to Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore. He is cycling the entire way.

Bottas, who drives for Cadillac Formula 1 Team, is cycling more than 200 miles between the two circuits. Google Maps doesn't provide a cycling option for calculating the distance between the two tracks, but the distance ranges between 332 kilometers (206 miles and 350 kilometers (217 miles) depending on the route.

Bottas provided some glimpses of his trek. He posted a video on his Instagram Stories that showed a first-person perspective of him crossing the terrain in the dead of night. A headlight showed the dirt trail that he followed.

The veteran F1 driver also confirmed that he had made it to safety after extensive time cycling. He posted a photo on Instagram showing the post-ride meal.

Bottas is no stranger to exploring the world on the back of his bike. He has spent extensive time roaming around while traveling the F1 circuit, as well as in his free time.

This past week, in particular, provided him with opportunities to explore Malaysia while appreciating the wildlife and the culture.

Bottas has also taken part in a gravel race in Estonia, a pre-birthday ride in the mountains of North Carolina, a Western-themed ride in Wyoming, and a UCI-sanctioned gravel race in the Czech Republic. Basically, if he can find a place to ride, he will embrace the opportunity.

He has taken part in all of these trips with his partner, professional cyclist Tiffany Cromwell. An Olympian in 2020 and a multi-time event winner, Cromwell won the gravel race in Estonia in which they competed in September.

Once Bottas completes his latest cycling challenge, he will continue with Cadillac's inaugural F1 season. The American team finished the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia last weekend. Next up is the Singapore Grand Prix on Oct. 9-11.

The weekend will mark Bottas' 11th start at the Marina Bay Circuit. He has four top-10 finishes at the circuit in his career, headlined by a third-place finish in 2017.
