F1 team falls for 'Paddock Cat' during Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Scoring points and contending for the win are technically the focus for Formula 1 teams during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend, but one particular team has put some of its focus on the adorable Paddock Cat.

Some stray cats made their way into the paddock as F1 teams prepared for on-track sessions. One, in particular, became a celebrity of the weekend, which the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team social media accounts confirmed.

This little gray striped cat made the rounds before the track went green. It rolled in the grass, sat in the dirt, laid on the pavement, and continued to delight onlookers.

According to reports, the track's safety crew removed Paddock Cat from the area multiple times. However, it kept returning. This led to numerous puns on social media as fans tried to make up the best cat-related driver names.

Meanwhile, the teams had some fun of their own. The Visa Cash App Racing Bulls admin even created a four-slide presentation highlighting why the team should adopt Paddock Cat. This presentation included one photo of the cat relaxing on the pavement. That's the only evidence the admin needed. The other slides featured the intro and outro.

"Wonder what the paddock cat is doing right now," the team's social media admin later posted.

Of course, other teams joined in on the fun. The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team also showed its appreciation for Paddock Cat with a calendar-worthy photo. The team later posted another photo showing several people petting the Paddock Cat.

What will happen to the cat once F1 completes the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and packs up to leave? That remains unclear, but Williams driver Alex Albon's mother weighed in. She posted on the Albon Pets account on Instagram and said that they are "waiting for him at home and will have Nando's (chicken emoji) ready."
