According to a press release, Goodyear will hold a tire test at Rockingham Speedway on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Reigning Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier will take part in the test at the 1-mile oval. Fellow Xfinity Series drivers Sheldon Creed and Brandon Jones will join him as they prepare for their respective moves to Ford and Toyota.

The three national NASCAR series have not competed at Rockingham Speedway in more than a decade. The Craftsman Truck Series teams last held races at The Rock in 2012 and 2013. The Cup and Xfinity teams last competed there in 2004.

The historic track will make its return in 2025 for two of the series. Craftsman Truck Series teams will race at Rockingham on Friday, April 18. Xfinity teams will compete on Saturday, April 19. Cup teams will be idle during the lone off-week of the season.

Very few active drivers have celebrated wins at The Rock. Kyle Larson won the last Truck Series race there while Joey Logano, Parker Kligerman, and Ty Dillon won ARCA Menards Series races. Tyler Reddick won an ARCA East race at The Rock while Chase Elliott won a Late Model race.

One driver who came close to winning multiple races at Rockingham is Martin Truex Jr. The 2017 Cup Series champion made two Xfinity Series starts at the 1-mile track (2003, 2004), and he finished second in both races while leading 68 total laps.

Truex just could not defeat Jamie McMurray, the driver who won four consecutive races at the track.

With Rockingham returning to the NASCAR schedule, Truex has another opportunity to contend for the win. He no longer competes full-time in the Cup Series, and he will build his racing schedule around the concept of having fun.

As Truex explained to reporters at Darlington in August, the historic track meets this criteria.

"May have to pencil in Rockingham (Speedway) in an Xfinity car, I did see that," Truex said during a bullpen session. "That looks pretty fun.

"I only raced there twice and got beat both times. So I finished second and I'd like to have another shot at winning there. That'd be a cool place to win.
