'GTA VI' Marketing Heads to Florida Streets With In-Game Cars

GTA VI is already one of the most anticipated video games of the decade, but Rockstar Games is going all out with its approach to marketing. This includes bringing in-game cars into the real world.

Several people have posted photos and videos showing a variety of vehicles in South Florida. Some are normal cars with decals and license plates referencing the video games. Others are actual cars with fake name badges referencing the fictional video game versions.

For example, a video taken at a gas station showed a Lamborghini with a wrap for the Vice Beach Police. It sat near an Albany Buccaneer, one of the muscle cars in the GTA universe. This particular Buccaneer had Zebra stripe interior, gold wheels, and a wild green exterior.

The group of cars in South Florida also included a Invetero Coquette, the GTA version of the Chevrolet Corvette. The car cruising around just happened to be a Corvette with a custom wrap. It also had a license plate reading "VCECTY."

These cars did not simply cruise around Miami. Other photos and videos showed them in Key Biscayne. One particular social media user highlighted a Ferrari with a custom gradient wrap. The in-game version of the Ferrari is the Grotti Cheetah.

All of the vehicles spotted across Florida featured custom Leonida license plates. Leonida is the GTA name for the state of Florida, similar to how San Andreas is the video game's name for California.

Of course, cars are not the only method of marketing for Rockstar Games. The developer is also flying a massive blimp around the country. This blimp features a custom Vice City wrap.

Another social media user spotted a bus with a GTA VI wrap stuck in traffic in the city of Chicago. Others saw a massive billboard in Times Square advertising the game.

The first entry in the Grand Theft Auto universe since 2013, GTA VI will become available on Nov. 19, on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series S/X. The PC version will launch at a later date.

The standard edition of the game will be available digitally for $79.99. The Ultimate Edition, including exclusive vehicles, outfits, stores, weapons, and more, will cost $99.99. Rockstar Games does not offer a true physical disc edition.
