Chip Ganassi Racing, the team that has captured seven of the last nine NTT IndyCar Series championships, has made another move. The team has signed a new driver for 2027 and beyond.

According to a press release, Christian Lundgaard, 25, will join Chip Ganassi Racing on a multi-year contract. He will drive the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda while replacing of the most successful drivers in history, Sir Scott Dixon, who heads to Arrow McLaren.
The Danish driver will join the three-car lineup while becoming teammates with perennial champion Alex Palou and Kyffin Simpson.
"It is an honor and a privilege to join Chip Ganassi Racing beginning next season," Lundgaard said in a press release. "The fact that it is in the iconic No. 9 PNC Bank Honda makes it even more special.
"CGR has set the standard in IndyCar for decades, and the opportunity to be part of that legacy is something I've worked toward my entire career. I'm incredibly excited about what's ahead. I can't wait to get to work with everyone at Chip Ganassi Racing and compete for wins, championships, and the Indianapolis 500."

Lundgaard has made 87 starts in the NTT IndyCar Series since 2021, and he has achieved some success.
He scored his first career win in Toronto in 2023 while driving for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. He became the first Danish driver in history to win an IndyCar race.
He then added two more wins this past season while driving for Arrow McLaren. Lundgaard won the Indianapolis Grand Prix and the Grand Prix at Road America. He finished third in the championship standings.
