The NTT IndyCar Series announced the news on June 1 while highlighting Treadway's racing career.
The Indiana native made 11 starts in the NTT IndyCar Series between 2001 and 2002. He drove for his father's teams — Treadway-Hubbard Racing and Treadway Racing — while sharing his seat with multiple other drivers. This includes Will Langhorne. Treadway posted a career-best finish of fifth at Texas Motor Speedway in 2001.
In 1998, Ricky Treadway scored a USAC Regional Midget win at 16th Street Speedway in Indy.
A night later, he won a Badger Midget feature at Wisconsin's @AngellPark with a last lap pass on Kevin Olson.
In 2000, he won 6 USAC Regional Midget races at the @speedrome.

Treadway's lone start in the Indianapolis 500 took place in 2002. He started 17th in the No. 5 entry, and he completed 88 laps. However, his race ended after an accident in Turn 3 that also collected Tony Kanaan.
"Sad news hearing Rick Treadway passed away last Saturday," wrote two-time Indy 500 winner Arie Luyendyk, who also drove for the team in its early days.
"Our condolences go out to my former (IndyCar) team owner Fred Treadway, Janice, and Brian Treadway. Rick was a fun, crazy, humble, wild and brave personality (exclamation point emoji) RIP Ricky (heart emoji) We are thinking of you Treadway family."
Prior to taking on the NTT IndyCar Series, Treadway raced in multiple other series. This includes Formula 2000 junior formula racing, the USAC Silver Crown, and National Midget Series. He achieved success while winning multiple races on dirt. He also raced in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
"Had many a beers with Ricky Treadway," wrote podcast host Tony Donohue on X. "Met him Michigan (in 2002). Great guy. rest easy."
Multiple other people weighed in on social media to express their condolences after hearing about Treadway's passing. One person said that they had graduated high school with the former racer. Others highlighted his willingness to sign autographs and spend time with racing fans during his life.
Indy 500 veteran Conor Daly also expressed condolences while explaining that his podcast Speed Street has a segment celebrating lesser known Indy 500 drivers. The show named this segment after Treadway.
