Johnson announced on Jan. 16 that he will suit up for two Cup Series races in 2025. He will first attempt to qualify for the season-opening Daytona 500 on Feb. 16 and then he will return to the No. 84 Toyota Camry XSE for the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25.

Carvana will once again serve as Johnson's sponsor as he continues driving for the team he co-owns.

"I'm so proud of the relationship we have built with Carvana," Johnson said in a press release. "They have always been supportive of my dreams and always find innovative ways to connect with fans.

"As my days behind the wheel of a racecar continue to wind down, the partnership with Carvana continues to celebrate my career and it's such an honor."

The part-time return to NASCAR will be significant for the Hall of Fame driver. He will hit a major career milestone if he qualifies for both the Daytona 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. Johnson will reach 700 career starts at NASCAR's top level.

Twenty drivers have made at least 700 Cup starts in their careers. Kyle Busch (714 starts) is the only other active driver who has topped this milestone.

Johnson, who has 83 career wins, has made 12 starts in the Gen 7 era. He controlled the No. 84 Chevrolet Camaro in three races in 2023 and then he made nine starts in the No. 84 Toyota Camry XSE last season.

His best finish in the new car is 26th at Phoenix Raceway. He will have two more opportunities to top this mark as he joins forces with Carvana once again.

"I'm thrilled to be returning to competition in 2025," Johnson added. "These two races hold a special place in my heart, and I've always loved the energy and excitement that surrounds them.

"The Daytona 500 is a crown jewel of NASCAR — there's nothing like it. Charlotte Motor Speedway is where I made my first start in the NASCAR Cup Series, and it's always felt like 'home' to me."
