Joey Logano brings some Indy 500 flair to Daytona 500 scheme

The reigning champion will bring a new Shell-Pennzoil scheme to the 2.5-mile superspeedway, one that resembles Newgarden's livery from the 2023-24 Indy 500s. Newgarden won both races for Team Penske.

Logano's version of the scheme features red on the hood and roof. The designers used gradients on the side of the Ford Mustang to transition from yellow to white. The door numbers will be red while tying into the overall color theme.

The main difference between the Indy 500 livery and the Daytona 500 scheme is the number of primary sponsors. Shell uses Logano's Cup Series car to advertise the Pennzoil brand. Newgarden's car highlighted Shell's Powering Progress initiative and the goal of becoming a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050.

Newgarden has already achieved success with this red, yellow, and white scheme. Now Logano will try to replicate the feat by winning another crown jewel race with some Indy 500 flair on his No. 22 Mustang.

The three-time Cup Series champion has won the Daytona 500 once in his career. He kicked off the 2015 season by winning the biggest race of the season and taking Shell-Pennzoil to victory lane. He then won five more races that season with his standard Shell-Pennzoil scheme.

Logano has highlighted a variety of Shell-Pennzoil schemes throughout his Cup Series career while winning three championships. His car has featured either both companies or solely Pennzoil for 32 of his 36 trips to victory lane.

And while Logano has not returned to victory lane at Daytona since the start of the 2015 season, he has been in a position to contend for the win. He has seven top-10 finishes and four top-fives at the track known for massive crashes. This includes a runner-up finish behind Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the 2023 Daytona 500.
