Six of the eight playoff drivers qualified inside the top 10. William Byron in ninth (29.242 seconds) and Joey Logano in 10th (29.287 seconds) joined Bell, Reddick, Hamlin, and Larson.

Chase Elliott qualified 18th at the 1.5-mile track with a lap of 29.381 seconds. Ryan Blaney did not qualify after crashing in practice. He will have to go to a backup car for Sunday afternoon's playoff race.

"We've got all race," Blaney said about starting from the rear of the field. "We might not be able to get stage points in the first one, but hopefully by the second one maybe we'll get some stage points and then hopefully the speed is good enough to where we can run up towards the front."

The race on Sunday marks the 34th time Cup teams have competed at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Jimmie Johnson, who starts 29th, leads Cup drivers with four trips to victory lane at the Nevada track.

Pre-race coverage for Sunday's playoff race begins at 2 p.m. ET on NBC. Race coverage continues at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The command to fire engines will take place at 2:38 p.m. ET. The green flag will wave to start the race at 2:49 p.m. ET.
