Cruise revealed on Saturday that the NASCAR-themed blockbuster will arrive in theaters in the summer of 2028. He also showed with a video and a photo that Anne Hathaway will join the cast in a seemingly prominent role.
"I think it's on," Cruise said in a video posted on Saturday. "Annie? It looks on to me. Don't you think?"
He then moved the camera to reveal Hathaway standing next to him in a cowboy hat. The two then walked over to a City Chevrolet-colored Cup Series car, which happened to be situated on pit road at Daytona International Speedway.

"Now what?" Cruise asked as they leaned against the car, which featured the film's release window on the door.
"Now what? Let's make the movie," Hathaway responded. "Now what? I'm gonna have this baby and then we're going to make this movie."
This video, which Cruise and Hathaway filmed on Thursday evening at Daytona International Speedway, did not provide any details about her role.
Yet, Variety reports that she will play a team owner and an engineer. This means that she will cross paths with Cruise's Cole Trickle in some manner. Though it remains unclear if they will be allies or foes in the NASCAR film.
Hathaway has released four films into theaters this year alone. She starred in Mother Mary, The End of Oak Street, The Odyssey, and The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Hathaway has starred in numerous films throughout the decades while covering different genres. She notably starred in the comedies Get Smart, Bride Wars, The Princess Diaries, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, and Love and Other Drugs.
She joined the superhero world while starring as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, and she played the antagonist in the all-female Ocean's Eight.
