A major change is taking place in the NASCAR Cup Series after the 2026 season. Brad Keselowski and RFK Racing are parting ways.

The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi broke the news on Tuesday morning. RFK Racing then confirmed it with a press release. The team said that Keselowski will finish out the 2026 season as the driver of the No. 6 Ford Mustang. He will then move on to the next chapter of his career.
The situation is not a simple split, considering that Keselowski is co-owner of the organization. The team acknowledged this while saying that they "intend to collaboratively and mutually work through the appropriate next steps regarding his existing ownership interest in the organization."
RFK Racing also said that it supports Keselowski's desire to explore career opportunities elsewhere. Meanwhile, the organization will continue its pursuit of a third charter so that it can remain a three-car team in the Cup Series.
The team will continue to operate under the ownership of Roush Enterprises and the Fenway Sports Group.
"We are big fans of Brad as a person, driver, and colleague," Chip Bowers, President of RFK Racing, said in a press release. "The impact Brad has made on our organization has been felt by everyone associated with RFK Racing; he's undoubtedly been a terrific representative of our collective efforts both on and off the track.
"He was not simply driving the No. 6 car but investing himself in the future of the team and helping us think differently about what RFK Racing could become. We have tremendous respect for Brad as a champion, competitor, and leader, and we are grateful for the energy and commitment he has brought to RFK.
"Brad has been clear about his desire to continue competing for years to come, and we respect and support him in pursuing the path that best allows him to achieve those goals. With several races still ahead, we look forward to competing together through the remainder of the season."
The 2012 Cup Series champion, Keselowski spent the majority of his Cup Series career with Team Penske. He won 34 races for the team. He also won 33 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series races and a championship for Team Penske.
Keselowski joined RFK Racing as a driver-owner when NASCAR moved to the Gen 7 era. He has remained in the No. 6 Ford ever since while winning once, the 2024 spring race at Darlington Raceway.
Now, he will seek out another opportunity to continue his career. And make no mistake, it will be as a driver.
"I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished at RFK over the past five years and grateful for the people I've had the opportunity to work alongside, including at Roush Enterprises and Fenway Sports Group," Keselowski said in a statement.
"So many great people have poured a tremendous amount into the competitive and technical transformation of this team, and I'll always value the relationships we've built, everything we've experienced together, and what I learned as a co-owner and as the head of competition.
"I'm nowhere near ready to be done as a driver," Keselowski added. "I still have a lot I want to accomplish in this sport, and I'm looking forward to what comes next."
