Chase Briscoe left Kansas Speedway considerably frustrated. He had gone from being in contention for his first win since the summer to falling to 123 points behind championship leader Kyle Larson.

This marked a major situation change for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver. He had the lead with under 10 laps remaining, but Larson passed him with six to go and went on to win for the second time in three races.
Briscoe, however, hit the wall and faded from second place to fourth place. This marked his best finish of the Chase, but it did not help him gain ground in the championship battle. Having Larson score a perfect 76 points only further exacerbated the problem.

"Frustrating for sure," Briscoe said after a fourth-place finish. "Yeah, just felt like I had a win there to stay in contention for a championship, and obviously now losing, I don't know, 123 points back, that's probably not going to happen.
"Yeah, we'll keep trying for Bass Pro Shops, Tracker, Toyota. It's nice to have a good finish in this Chase. It's been a rough go to start. I have six more weeks to go try to win as many races as we can, and that's what we're going to do."
Briscoe reached the Championship 4 in 2025, his first season with Joe Gibbs Racing. He won three races and finished top 10 in 19 of the 36 races.
This season has not gone the same for Briscoe. He only has one win and 15 top-10s in 30 races. He has six DNFs after only posting four last season.
Two of these DNFs have come in the Chase. Briscoe kicked off the 10-race postseason by finishing sixth in the Southern 500, a race he has won two times. He was then collected in a crash at World Wide Technology Raceway after Chase Elliott blew a brake rotor.
Last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, Briscoe failed to finish due to a suspension issue. That dropped him further behind Larson heading to Kansas Speedway.
Briscoe had a major hurdle to overcome, but he also knew that he could gain ground by winning and scoring some bonus points. Now that he has missed out on the Kansas win, he knows that he is far less likely to achieve his goal of winning a championship.
"I thought today, I think I was 87 out going into it, and I felt like I had to at least knock off 10 from the cut line," Briscoe added. "I didn't get points the first stage, which I knew that was going to be hard.
"Ultimately, I had to win to be able to even stay somewhat around 80 or 90 back. I don't know, it's still possible, but you're going to have to win five or so of the next six races. A little Tony Stewart 2011 run or something. We'll see what we can do and yeah, go on to the next one."
