It's no secret that NBC won't have Dale Earnhardt Jr. in its TV booth this season, or at any point moving forward, as the NASCAR Hall of Famer decided it was time to move on.

He didn't leave without plenty of questions about why from fans. Now, Earnhardt has finally cleared the air on his departure from NBC.
Earnhardt took to X this week to dispel a claim from a Reddit user as to why he chose to leave NBC and join Amazon and Warner Bros. Discovery.
That Reddit user made the claim that NBC wanted Earnhardt to call races in a remote style from its Charlotte studios and that he and the network would often clash behind the scenes. Those clashes were seemingly over his desire to look out through the windows of the booth to call the races, instead of calling the action from the TV monitors.
Earnhardt thoroughly called out the Reddit user, citing the contents of the post as "untrue," and then set the record straight on his time at NBC.
"This is all untrue," Earnhardt said via X. "NBC is not considering a remote booth and I was never scolded for anything. NBC was amazing and everyone there taught me a ton. I promise that's the truth. Nothing but respect and love for everyone there that I came in contact with."

Earnhardt served as a color commentator for NBC since 2018 but will be joining the streaming world to call races in 2025, as previously reported by The Athletic's Andrew Marchand.
He will take this season off before hitting the ground running in 2025 with WBD Sports and Amazon.
His expertise and hard work will certainly be missed at NBC, but it was ultimately his choice to move on. He shouldn't have to be questioned on it, even by trolls on social media.
