Daniel Dye Continues Return From Suspension With Cup Series Debut

Daniel Dye missed multiple races while serving an indefinite suspension for comments made on a livestream about Team Penske driver David Malukas. Now, he returns to the national NASCAR series for the biggest moment of his career.

Dye will make his Cup Series debut this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. He will drive the No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports Chevrolet at the Alabama track while Champion Container serves as his primary partner.

The Florida native will make three other Cup Series starts for Live Fast Motorsports. He will drive the No. 78 at Pocono Raceway on June 14, Daytona International Speedway on Aug. 29, and Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 25.

Dye, 22, has experience in two of the three national NASCAR series. He spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons competing in the Craftsman Truck Series and then the 2025 season in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.

He returned to the Truck Series this season after Kaulig Racing put its O'Reilly Series program on pause to focus on Ram and the Truck Series.

Dye started three races in the No. 10 Ram 1500, but he lost his ride before the trip to Darlington Raceway. Footage circulated on social media showing him mocking Malukas and saying that the Team Penske driver had a "gay voice." He made other comments that also violated the NASCAR Rule Book.

Both NASCAR and Kaulig Racing indefinitely suspended him. NASCAR said he had to complete mandatory sensitivity training before becoming eligible to return to stock car racing.

NASCAR reinstated him on March 31, making him eligible to compete once again. However, Dye and Kaulig Racing announced that they would part ways. Corey LaJoie would take over the No. 10 for the rest of the season while the young driver would look for other opportunities.

Dye has competed in one race since being reinstated. He competed in the ARCA Menards Series race at Kansas Speedway on April 18, and he finished second behind Gio Ruggiero.
