Rucker revealed on Wednesday during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show that he has invested in Legacy Motor Club. He dropped this news while wearing a Legacy Motor Club hat.

"I'm really good friends with Jimmie Johnson, you know, and I was like, 'I gotta text Jimmie and ask if this was ok,'" Rucker explained. "Because we just decided to do this — we can announce now that I'm one of the investors and one of the owners of Legacy Motor Club."

The NASCAR Cup Series team then confirmed the news on Wednesday evening with a press release. According to the information provided, Rucker will "collaborate with the organization on select initiatives that bridge sports, music and fan engagement, while supporting the Club's continued business and brand development."

"Darius is someone who understands the power of connection - with fans, with communities and through storytelling," said Jimmie Johnson in a press release.

"What he's built in music, the authenticity he brings to everything he does aligns directly with who we are as a Club. We're excited to welcome him into Legacy and to build something meaningful together."

As Rucker explained, he loves motorsports. He has been to many NASCAR races over the years, and he is Southern, so he is a fan of the sport.

The longtime performing artist has certainly made numerous appearances at NASCAR events throughout his career while holding multiple roles.

For example, he performed pre-race concerts at Daytona International Speedway (2010, 2020), Chicagoland Speedway (2011), Charlotte Motor Speedway (2012), and Circuit of the Americas (2023). Rucker also attended the NASCAR Awards in Nashville in 2019.

"Jimmie, when he told us before he announced that he was going to retire and everything, I knew I wanted to play the Daytona 500," Rucker said before a pre-race concert in 2020. "It's Jimmie's last one, and I've sat in that pit with the family and then with everybody before, you know, him going around.

"And to just be a part of this, knowing how special it's going to be for him was why I wanted to be here. And, yeah, I'm going to be at a lot of races."

Rucker has detailed over the years how his friendships with drivers helped draw him into NASCAR. He became friends with Kyle Petty and Michael Waltrip. He also enjoyed a friendship with Johnson that lasted decades.

Now, he will be business partners with the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.
