The Hall of Famer, making a rare public appearance after announcing he had been diagnosed with Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD), used the 2026 Waltrip Brothers' Champions Dinner to give Logano his No. 95 Mercury.

"That car started out as a '67 (Ford) Fairlane," Waltrip said in a video filmed by Braking Bob. "And Mario (Andretti) won the Daytona 500 in it. And then they brought it to Holman and Moody and made it into a '69 Mercury."

Waltrip continued and explained that the same car went to Talladega Superspeedway and qualified on the outside pole. Though it didn't finish the race due to an engine issue.

The team ultimately took the '69 Mercury back to the shop. They didn't have plans for it until Waltrip came calling. The future Hall of Famer then agreed to pay $12,500 for the car, which he used during the early days of his Cup Series career.

Waltrip then kept the Mercury his collection until giving it to Logano on Wednesday evening.

"I know you love it, and I know you'd like to have it," Waltrip told Logano on stage. "...So, I want you to have that car."

Logano is someone who has a sizable car collection ranging from custom classics to race cars and modern marvels. This is a driver who will cruise around in a custom No. 22 Mustang GTD on one day and then a massive car hauler the next.

Logano will drive his Ford GT — also branded with the No. 22 — and then a Ford Model-T. He also has a C1 Corvette, a Fox Body Mustang, an amphibious Jeep, and a Hudson truck. He's also previously showcased a 1946 Ford, a 1972 Cutlass, a Ferrari 512 TR, and a DMC DeLorean.

Now, the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion has a special Mercury that multiple legends of the sport have controlled during their Hall of Fame career, and it's a vehicle that plans to keep for a very long time.
