Denny Hamlin breaks out 'Law & Order' theme for Bristol intros

BRISTOL, Tenn. — A time-honored tradition at Bristol Motor Speedway features drivers picking special walkout songs for night race intros. Denny Hamlin took this tradition to another level on Saturday night as he broke out a fitting song.

Hamlin did not go with a popular rap song or rock anthem. Instead, he headed out onto the stage as the theme song from "Law & Order" played over the loudspeakers. He then grabbed the microphone and simply said, "Him" instead of stating his name, car number, and team.

This song playing during driver intros served as a mic-drop moment for the NASCAR Cup Series veteran, who already punched his ticket to the Round of 12 by winning at World Wide Technology Raceway last weekend. It set him up to pursue his 60th career win at a track where he has won three of the last nine races.

Hamlin will continue to pursue a championship this season, and then he will shift his focus after the season. He will head to court on Dec. 1 as 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports detail their antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR and CEO Jim France to the selected jury members.

Hamlin is not the only driver who chose an interesting song that could have deeper meaning. Joey Logano walked out onto the stage while Fall Out Boy's "I Don't Care" played to the NASCAR fans in attendance.

Why would "I Don't Care" mean something a little more? Just look at the chorus of the song, which says "I don't care what you think, as long as it's about me. The best of us can find happiness in misery."

Logano has spent the past year as the centerpoint of numerous conversations about the playoff format. Some have criticized the way he won this championship. He made the playoffs with a five overtime win at Nashville Superspeedway and then he advanced to the Round of 8 after NASCAR disqualified Alex Bowman for the No. 48 failing inspection.

Logano has responded to these comments by indicating that he doesn't care. He took advantage of the current playoff format and won his third Cup Series championship. Saturday night at Bristol, he let the Bristol Motor Speedway deliver this message during driver intros.
