Changes are taking place in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. Haas Factory Team is expanding to three full-time entries while bringing in a new driver.

According to a Saturday morning announcement, Dean Thompson will make a move to Haas Factory Team. He will leave Sam Hunt Racing after two seasons, and he will compete full-time for the Chevrolet team.
Thompson has signed a multi-year deal with the organization. The team will announce the car number and crew chief at a later date.
"We're excited to welcome Dean to Haas Factory Team. He has shown strong progression throughout his time in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and we believe he will compete at the highest level," said Joe Custer, President of Haas Factory Team.
"Along with our growing affiliate program, the addition of a third full-time entry continues to strengthen our organization."

Thompson, an Anaheim native, has risen through the NASCAR ranks while primarily competing in the Toyota camp. Though he spent his first full season in the Craftsman Truck Series with the Chevrolet-affiliated Niece Motorsports.
Thompson spent three seasons in the Truck Series — one with Niece and two with Tricon Garage. He then moved to the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2025 and joined Sam Hunt Racing. He has continued to drive for the Toyota-affiliated team while gaining experience in NASCAR's secondary series.
"I'm thrilled to join Haas Factory Team as the next step in my NASCAR journey," Thompson said in a press release. "I am looking forward to competing for wins and a championship with support from MCM Transportation and Thompson Pipe Group."
Haas Factory Team has not provided any details about the status of the other two full-time drivers — Sam Mayer and Sheldon Creed. Custer said in a press conference that he believes both drivers are ready for the Cup Series and that they are exploring their options.
Custer noted that he would ideally have Mayer and Creed back for the 2027 season, but that remains in flux as of early August.
