NASCAR Hall of Famer Tony Stewart is gathering his firesuit and racing shoes in preparation for another start this season. He will compete once again in the Craftsman Truck Series.

According to a press release, Stewart will return to Kaulig Racing for his second start of the season. He will drive the No. 25 Ram 1500 free agent entry during the Oct. 23 race at Talladega Superspeedway. This will mark his eighth career Truck Series start and his first at the Alabama track.

"Anytime you can get into a Ram truck and go racing at a place like Talladega, you jump at it," Stewart said.
"Daytona in February was a blast, but this trip focuses on having fun while helping Kaulig Racing learn and build their notebook on superspeedways.
"Ram put a tremendous amount of heart into this NASCAR return. If my experience helps this team sharpen its drafting package and speed up the learning curve, everyone wins."
Stewart, who retired from NASCAR after the 2016 season, made a sudden return to stock car racing in February. He took over the Kaulig Racing free agent truck for the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway, and he set out to deliver a strong performance.
The three-time Cup Series champion qualified 15th for the Truck Series race, and he remained in this position early. However, another driver's mistake ruined his outing by Lap 35.
Jake Garcia got loose in the middle of a three-wide pack, and he swerved right after trying to correct the vehicle. His truck slammed into Stewart's which sent the No. 25 into the outside wall.
The Kaulig Racing team attempted to make repairs to both sides of the truck, but they ultimately called it a night. He finished 36th in the race.

"It was starting to get fun where we could at least get up there and mix it up a little bit, get in the middle of that stuff," Stewart said after exiting the infield care center.
"So not sure what happened underneath us, but (he came) just across the nose. That's just part of it."
At the time, it appeared that the Daytona race would be Stewart's only start in the series. However, he told the team over the radio after the crash that there was a pretty good shot he would want to make another.
He has since proved that to be true. He will indeed make another start for Kaulig Racing, and he will try to complete all of the laps at a different superspeedway.
