According to a Sunday announcement at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Burton will move to Team Chevy. He will join Peterson Racing as the team expands to two full-time entries and moves onto the Richard Childress Racing campus in Welcome, North Carolina.
Burton will drive the No. 78 Chevrolet Camaro for the team. He will be teammates with Lee Pulliam, who makes the full-time move to NASCAR to drive the No. 87 Chevrolet.
"It's been evident... we were talking about is just the performance increase, and I have to race against those guys," Burton said about Peterson Racing. "I raced against Nick Sanchez and Austin Green and Lee last weekend, and you see their car moving forward and forward throughout the field.
"And with that, you also see them making the right decisions to improve performance, right. We talk about the move to RCR, expanding that alliance. For me, having been a part of a team with an alliance at AM Racing two years, or yeah, what will be two years ago, I've seen the power in how those relationships can grow and build and be beneficial for both teams."
The son of soon-to-be Hall of Famer Jeff Burton, the 26-year-old has 287 starts across the three national NASCAR series. He has 41 in the Craftsman Truck Series, 110 in the Cup Series, and 136 in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race.
Burton has celebrated one Cup Series win at Daytona International Speedway with Wood Brothers Racing and four O'Reilly Auto Parts Series wins with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Burton also took on a major challenge in 2025. He joined AM Racing as the team did a full-on rebuild. He worked with a new-look No. 25 team, and he led it to the playoffs by performing consistently and accumulating points.
"We are excited about adding Harrison to our program and expanding to a two-car operation in 2027," stated Chris Seibel, General Manager for Peterson Racing.
"Harrison is a great fit with what we have built so far at Peterson Racing, and we feel he will be a key piece to our continued growth process. We think that Harrison and Lee make a special combination of drivers and we look forward to them representing us on the track in 2027."
