A historic NASCAR track is on the auction block along with several other properties previously owned by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and Darryl H. Cuttel.

According to the auction site Tranzon, approximately a dozen racing facilities are up for auction. They will all close on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. ET. This includes Rockingham Speedway in Marston, North Carolina, a track that has hosted both NASCAR races and a film crew for Talladega Nights.
The auction listing says that the lot includes more than 243 acres located along US HWY 1. This includes the 0.98-mile oval track and the road course located on the property.
"The property features existing racing and event infrastructure with a proven history of hosting NASCAR racing, concerts, fundraisers, and other large-scale events," the listing states.
"Its substantial acreage and strategic location offer significant potential for continued motorsports use, entertainment, redevelopment, and long-term investment."
This short track vanished from the NASCAR Cup Series schedule after 2004 and from the Truck Series schedule after 2013. It returned in 2025 and 2026 as part of a race track revival, but it also experienced an uncertain future. This included Cuttel purchasing the property in late December 2025.
The purchase of Rockingham Speedway came amid a spending spree by Cuttel, who is the president and CEO of Darana Hybrid — an electro-mechanical company that has done contract work with xAI, SpaceX, and Tesla.
The businessman acquired the IHRA brand, nearly a dozen drag strips, and a power boat racing series. He also announced a Late Model racing series.
However, the IHRA canceled the remainder of the Late Model season after approximately three months. The comapny also canceled its professional drag racing series.
The other properties listed on Tranzon include Virginia Motorsports Park, Darana Motorsports Park (Benson, NC), Atlanta Dragway, Kil-Kare Raceway (Daytona, OH), Dragway 42 (West Salem, OH), National Trail Raceway (Hebron, OH), Heartland Motorsports Park (Topeka, KS), Memphis International Speedway (Millington, TN), Empire Dragway (Leicester, NY), Darana Dragway (Milan, MI), and Piedmont Dragway (Julian, NC).
